Kirk’s Place offers an ability-centered memory support program designed for those with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of memory loss. Kirk’s Place provides a reassuring, flexible, and safe environment while promoting individual worth through meaningful programming and interaction. Our highly-trained team of professionals provide specialized care and attention to residents 24 hours a day. Our program includes proven memory-enhancing therapies such as relaxation, music and exercise in a quietly stimulating, home-like setting. Our caring team also encourages family and friends to share in the day-to-day experiences of their loved ones.

As of December 2023, Winnebago County - including the City of Rockford - was officially recognized as the 28th Dementia Friendly Community in the nation, as part of the Dementia Friendly America movement. A Dementia Friendly Community aims to bring together various sectors of the community to bring increased awareness, education, resources, experiences, and strategies of inclusion to the community. These sectors currently include Lifescape, MercyHealth Hospice, the City of Rockford, Rockford Public Library, and Wesley Willows to name a few. The initiatives of this Task Force aim to provide both people living with dementia (and other forms of cognitive impairment) - as well as their loved ones and support team - a deeper sense of community and inclusion along their journey. These initiatives include “No-Shush” move showings, Virtual Dementia Tour trainings, and increased dementia-care education to emerging care providers.
