19 New Senior Living Houses to Open in Rockford in Spring 2024

Moving to a senior living community doesn’t have to mean giving up your independence or a comfortable home. Seniors enjoy independent living at a house they love while also receiving the support they need at Peterson Meadows in Rockford, IL. This year, our independent living community is expanding, so even more people can experience these benefits.

At Peterson Meadows, we offer apartments, single-family homes, and duplex homes for seniors to enjoy and make their own. We currently have eight duplexes and three single family homes under construction, which will allow us to provide 19 new homes this spring. Future residents have already reserved or occupy 15 of the homes, leaving four still available to interested occupants.

These brand-new duplex homes are a unique opportunity for seniors to have full control of their care-free lifestyle. Not only will residents receive access to numerous programs, services, and amenities they need from the Peterson Meadows staff, but they can also customize the home to their style preferences.

Keep reading to learn more about these homes and how Peterson Meadows provides an independent living experience like no other.

A Brief History of the New Construction

Planning for the new duplex homes began in 2018 when we purchased four acres of land to the west of the Peterson Meadows campus. We chose our longtime partner Steve Zentz to be the contractor for the project. Steve was responsible for many of the other beautiful homes on our property, so we knew he’d do a fantastic job with these, too.

We broke ground on the project in October 2022, and the construction process has moved along quickly. The duplexes are nearly finished and should be ready for new residents by spring 2024.

The future residents of the 15 reserved homes have enjoyed planning their new living arrangements with our professional team. If you’re interested in independent senior housing, you could also enjoy completely personalizing your new home. We’ll give you a preview of what that looks like in the next section.

Each Duplex Home is Customizable

The new duplex homes come with our Greenleaf or Stonegate floorplans. These layouts have between 1,600 and 1,900 square feet of floorspace and include two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a two-car garage, and a full basement. You can view the floor plans below:New Paragraph

What makes these duplex homes unique is, unlike our already existing homes, they are blank canvases with many possibilities for customization. You can personalize our already existing homes, but with these new homes, you don’t have to deal with alterations made by the previous owner. Instead, you get to be the first one to choose a wide variety of features for the home!

What can you customize in your newly constructed senior living houses? The interior features you can select include:

·      Flooring

·      Cabinets

·      Countertops

·      Lighting

·      And more!

You can choose from many luxurious design options for all these features from our friends at Benson Stone Company. Their interior designers do great work helping our residents choose stunning décor for their homes. You can see an example of their furnishings in one of our homes on their website.

Receive Professional Care for All Your Needs

Residents of Peterson Meadows homes enjoy a private and autonomous lifestyle while knowing all the help they need is right around the corner. Life here feels just like living in your own house. The key difference is our staff is always available to handle the tasks you can’t handle on your own.

Our maintenance staff provides residents with a wide variety of interior and exterior maintenance services. We keep the bushes trimmed and lawns mowed in the summer and clear out the snow and ice in the winter. Give us a call if you have any issues with malfunctioning appliances in the home, and we’ll get them fixed quickly for you. We also provide many utilities and 24/7 security for homes in our private community.

Residents enjoy many life enrichment opportunities on our campus, too. Our activity calendar is always full of fun social opportunities and events open to all. We have regular fitness classes, bingo games, chapel services, and more for seniors to enjoy. You can also grab a delicious meal at our café if you don’t feel like cooking.

The best part of living at Peterson Meadows is having friendly neighbors living nearby to socialize and enjoy life with. Residents love the small town feel of our retirement community. It’s nice to walk around and be recognized by welcoming residents and staff who know you by name.
