Army Veteran and Wesley Willows Resident to be Honored During Lake County Honor Flight

Wesley Willows resident Larry Gillette will be honored for his military service during the Lake County Honor Flight this weekend (April 26-28). He and a group of 25 veterans will be flown to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifices.

Larry is a Vietnam War Veteran who served in the Army Reserve from 1966-1972. His main role during the war was to help keep warehouses well supplied and in working order. He appreciates the opportunity to go on this Honor Flight because he remembers the harsh treatment many Vietnam veterans received after the war. For this reason, he savors opportunities to honor their memory.

The Lake County Honor Flight is completely free to the veterans. It features a police escort both to and from the airport and a lot of well-deserved fanfare throughout the trip. Larry is most looking forward to visiting the Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Korean War Memorial.

We’re so happy for Larry and thankful for his service to our country. It’s a pleasure to have he and his wife Annette as part of the Wesley Willows community.
